Viking Maritime launch ground-breaking maritime skills academy at Lakeside…
Viking Maritime is a family-run business that is helping to set new industry standards by delivering high level deck and engine simulations, maritime, fire and safety training.
The organisation offers more than 500 expert courses to more than 2,000 delegates annually and is a Maritime & Coastguard Agency, Global Wind Organisation and GUEST accredited course provider and UK Chamber of Shipping recognised centre.
With training centres at Lakeside North Harbour in Portsmouth and in Dover, Kent, Viking Maritime offers bespoke courses including simulator training, ship handling, tug operations, Polar Code and Engine Simulator training, High Voltage, plus STCW Safety, commercial Fire, medical, GWO and Hospitality training.
The Maritime Skills Academy offers complete training management, these are world-class centres with state-of-the-art locations supporting delegates from around the world, whether from the cruise industry, private yacht crews, marine shipping crews or those working in offshore/renewables and maritime construction.
Lakeside is home to state-of-the-art equipment
The Maritime Skills Academy at Lakeside is the company’s second training centre but, more significantly, is home to the organisation’s first simulation centre.
The new centre is fully equipped to deliver ground-breaking simulator and classroom based Bridge and Engine Resource Management courses, including 270 Main Bridge, Emergency Safety Centre, 360 Tug Sim, Engine Control room, Main Switch Board, High Voltage and Virtual Machinery Spaces.
MSA Portsmouth is the world’s only commercial training centre to have a fully integrated Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum system within the full mission bridge simulator and associated course provision.
The centre at Lakeside has been purpose-built and the simulation locations have been created in partnership with global maritime simulation leaders, Wärtsilä (formerly known as Transas Marine).
The aim is to deliver the high-standards and culturally-attuned training provision needed to support achievement of a company’s key objective: delivering the safest and most efficient standards in the industry.
