The Lakeside team recently visited URBOND alongside Councillor Chris Attwell and the team from Portico Logistics to see first-hand the impact that collaboration can have.
What started as a conversation between Lakeside and URBOND about promoting their Cultural Festival to occupiers on site soon led to discussions about how surplus furniture on campus could be put to good use.
Our team were delighted to donate a significant amount of furniture, much of which is being used locally by URBOND to support community projects, while some is being shipped to their school in West Guinea alongside solar panels and other essential resources.
Following our donations, one of our occupiers was inspired to donate additional furniture, which will also be used locally through URBOND’s work in the local community.
Lakeside would also like to give a huge thank you to Portico for all their hard work in making the logistics possible. It’s incredible to think that the shipping container itself will go on to become part of the school’s infrastructure once it arrives.
It’s a brilliant example of how charities, businesses and local communities can come together and create a lasting impact. What started as a simple conversation has grown into support that will benefit people both here in Portsmouth and overseas.
It was a real pleasure to have been invited to URBOND’s offices, learn more about the inspiring work they do, and see first-hand the difference that everyone’s generosity and hard work is making.
