Site sustainability is one of our top priorities…
And caring for the environment is also one of Lakeside’s core values – from creating the right atmosphere for our occupier community, to driving sustainability and efficient use of our valuable resources.
Recent activity on site has included;
- Starting work on a major solar project – one of the largest of its kind in the UK, with solar panels covering the buildings and car parks, plus a large battery storage facility, enabling us to generate green power for the site and save occupiers money!
- Providing bird and wildlife habitats – working in partnership with The Hampshire Wildlife Trust, we’ve put up a considerable number of bird boxes, insect hotels and hedgehog houses around the site, as well as creating a special bird viewing seating area for occupiers to enjoy.
- Planting more trees – over the last year we’ve planted 25 trees, which not only enhance our environment and provide pollen for our bees who live in their hives on site.
- Offering more sustainable travel options – occupiers can now choose to travel to work by either our free shuttle bus service, Voi electric scooters or Beryl bikes and we’re also planning to launch a car share scheme soon too!
Over the last year we’ve undertaken many new initiatives, to ensure our site is sustainable and environmentally friendly – you can read more about our work and future plans here.
