Lakeside provides a co-operative and co-working space

Lakeside is home to the new South East working hub…

Tell us about NHS Property Services

NHS Property Services is a government-owned company which exists to help the NHS get the most from its estate and ensure that it is consistently fit for purpose so that healthcare professionals can deliver excellent patient care.

The portfolio is one of the largest in the UK, comprising more than 3,000 properties with 7,000 tenants across England.

At a total value of more than £3bn, this represents about 10 per cent of the total NHS estate and the properties range from listed buildings through to state-of-the-art integrated health campuses.

Since NHS Property Services was established in 2013, its portfolio has evolved to meet changing models of care as properties must deliver much more than in the past.

The company is constantly looking for ways to innovate and collaborate with NHS colleagues locally, regionally and nationally to support the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan and help the NHS transform.

A co-operative and co-working space

Lakeside North Harbour is now the home to NHS Property Services’ new South East hub. With a hybrid working policy in place, the new offices have been purposefully designed to facilitate and encourage a collaborative working environment, ensuring that team members can make the most of opportunities to work together.

The space has been fully refurbished with the creation of huddle booths and meeting rooms, along with new furniture, to provide a modern co-operative and co-working space for up to 60 employees.

Zoe Thomson, National Office Programme Manager at NHS Property Services, said:

With flexible working in place post-pandemic, we wanted to make the office a collaborative working experience so that our people can take full advantage of opportunities to come together.

“Our new South East Smarter Working Hub at Lakeside supports our aims to offer our people best-in-class facilities and an environment that encourages interaction and teamwork.”

Going that extra mile

Alongside modern office space, Lakeside was also able to accommodate the company’s need for separate storage space of 1,600 sq ft, which will be used by its operations team.

Simon Bateman, asset manager at Lakeside North Harbour, said:

“We have found that, post-pandemic, what businesses need from office space is changing. There is a clear shift towards collaborative working and providing environments that benefit employee health and wellbeing.

“We’re very pleased to have supported NHS Property Services in the creation of its new South East Hub. At Lakeside, we always go the extra mile to meet our tenants’ specific needs, and we look forward to seeing NHS Property Services benefit from our modern facilities and 130-acre landscaped grounds.”

Why Lakeside?

Zoe Thomson, added:

“Lakeside is an exciting place to work and has a number of attractive benefits for our people, including its onsite facilities, outdoor space and abundant parking, which helped with our decision to choose the site.”
